Basketball is a sport for all ages. Whilst our junior domestic competition age groups start at Under 8 for children aged 7, 8  we also cater for keen basketballers from as young as two years old.

There are three main programs for younger hoopers:

  • Aussie Hoopers, for children generally aged 4-10, aimed at developing game skills in readiness for domestic competition;

  • Under 8's, for children that would like to experience both training and game like situations. Thursdays 5:15pm

  • Under 10 Cubs Program, for children aged 7-9, aimed at greater development of skills in readiness for representative basketball either at tournaments as Under 10s, or in readiness for tryouts for the Under 12 VJBL representative program.

Participation in these programs are subject to the various operational and competition programs, which can be found here.

Our new and improved Aussie Hoops program commenced in February 2023 is an Australian-wide program that helps to develop playing skills even more where footwork, offence and defence skills are also encouraged, in readiness for their first steps into junior domestic basketball competition.

Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official junior game development program for girls and boys aged 4-10 years old of all abilities.

The program is all about learning to play basketball in a fun and safe environment, the perfect intro to playing in junior competitions.

Aussie Hoops will is run on Thursdays at 4:30pm-5:15pm at R.B Robson Stadium
