Wallan Basketball (WBI) provides pathways for players that wish to extend their basketball beyond their Saturday domestic competition.  WBI are very fortunate to be affiliated with Basketball Victoria Country, which means we can attend all of the skills days and follow the pathways of Vic Country, however we also have the opportunity for our players to participate in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL).  This provides our players with the best of both country and metro basketball experiences, which ensures that our junior players are given as much opportunity to play and develop their basketball as they wish.

The rep ready clinics are an opportunity for players that have not played representative basketball in the past, to participate in skills clinics in the lead up to the try outs to develop their skills.  The clinics are designed to give the new players an experience of the types of skills and drills that will be tested at the try outs.  Participation in the rep ready clinics do not guarantee that the player will be selected into a team.  In 2021 the clinics will be held on a Friday night from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the last five weeks of Term 3 of school.  For more information, please email wallanbasketball@gmail.com.

Participation in this program is subject to the various operational and competition programs, which can be found here.

The 2021/2022 representative teams will be announced once basketball is able to resume post COVID restrictions.

The VJBL is a basketball competition operated by Basketball Victoria which is played on a Friday evening at venues across metropolitan Melbourne and some regional cities.  Each week approximately 1300 teams participate in the competition which equates to approximately 650 games on almost 200 courts. The VJBL is arguably the largest competition of its kind, offering a graduated system of junior basketball competition giving opportunities for players to play against the best basketball players in the state.  The premier competition is the Victorian Junior State Championship (“VC”) and following that are the Victorian Junior Basketball Leagues (Division 1, 2, 3 & 4) and regional competitions.

The VJBL season starts in November and finishes in August with finals in September, with no games during school holidays.

The Basketball Victoria Country (BVC) Country Championships are conducted yearly for the Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 age groups.  BVC affiliated association teams play in what is the pinnacle of "town vs town" competition in country Victoria.  Events are held over multiple days in a round robin and knock out setting.

Junior Country Basketball League (JCBL) is a new league developed by the Basketball Victoria Country body. It will be consisting of country based associations from around the Victorian regional areas (North, West and South).  Wallan Basketball is located in the Northern region. This region consists from the likes of Wodonga, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Seymour and many others.  Age groups will be from Under 12s to Under 18s respectively for boys and girls alike.

The CBL Panthers men won the 2020 open age championship.  The season will consist of games played over Friday nights and weekends.

Players in the representative program, that qualify to play JCBL, will be given the opportunity to play both VJBL and JCBL.
